Make The Clouds Go Away!

Cloudy or dull epoxy is typically caused by excessive moisture. Specifically, moisture from excessive humidity in the area where the epoxy was applied or excessive moisture in/on the concrete application surface. It can also be caused by moisture that has gotten directly into the mix of epoxy, but this is a rare occurrence.

There are a few simple ways to avoid this issue:

  • Be sure to eliminate all water before applying epoxy
  • Never apply epoxy when relative humidity is over 75%

That being said, if you do have an issue with cloudy epoxy, there are a couple of ways to correct it. Once the epoxy has fully cured, test the problem area with water moistened rage to see if the cloudiness can be "wet out." If it works, wipe down the entire area. If the cloudiness cannot be wet out, you will need to lightly sand out the cloudiness and apply a thin new coat of epoxy.

Cloudy Epoxy Resin Will No Longer Be A Problem

Epoxy resin is a chemical that exists in 2 parts. When you combine these parts, the effect is a strong and clear adhesive. Epoxy resin has many applications which can include mold making, laminating and sealing external or internal fixtures. One main application is in the construction field where epoxy resin can be used as an insulator. There are some minor problems one can face when handling epoxy resin, and this article will point some of the most common out to you.

When using epoxy resin, it will dry dull, but you want it to shine like you've seen it shine previously. The truth of the matter is that epoxy resin does not dry shiny. Those who use epoxy resin professionally add a step to the process that they do not share. This step involves coating the epoxy resin with a clear coat enamel or some sort of polyurethane. This is applied once the epoxy resin has cured. Once you apply a thin coat of polyurethane you can buff it with a towel. It will even work with a live edge river table.
